Rev. SHOUKEI MATSUMOTO
Shoukei Matsumoto is the Co-Founder of Interbeing Inc. In November 2025, he transitioned from his role as CEO to Chief Wisdom Officer, focusing on stewarding the organization’s spiritual and philosophical foundations.
A Buddhist monk of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha tradition, he also serves as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Well-being at Musashino University. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB).
As a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, he serves on the Co-creation Advisory Board of the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ). He is the author of several influential books, including the international bestseller A Monk’s Guide to a Clean House and Mind (translated into over 20 languages) and Work Like a Monk (2025). He is also the Japanese translator of The Good Ancestor by Roman Krznaric. His ongoing reflections are shared through his digital platform, “Living Dharma.”
